About this species
Silky dogwood is a multi-stemmed native shrub appreciated for its striking seasonal color and value to wildlife. In spring, it produces clusters of small, creamy white flowers that attract a variety of pollinators. By late summer, these blossoms develop into attractive blue‑black berries, which are especially important to birds and other wildlife. The plant’s name comes from the silky hairs found on the undersides of its leaves and young twigs, adding a subtle texture to its appearance.
